I don’ get notification when I receive a new email. How do I turn it on?

I use to get a Icon in the bottom right corner of my screen and now I dont. I have checked yahoo messenger and notification is turned on in preferences but I still dont get notification on either the tool bar or Yahooo messenger. How can I turn this feature on so I know when I get a new email

Does anyone know of an Email Notifier/alert tool, as an alternative to Yahoo! Messenger?

As Yahoo! Messenger has withdrawn their email notifier and alerts without consultation or support, does anyone know of an alternative? I’m not looking for a `notifier’ program like `Pop-peeper’, just looking for some kind of widget or add-on/plug-in, as Yahoo! Messenger is now useless??
