I have come across some JAVA software that I can download to send email via GRPS. I am interested to know if you know any similar software. We are keen to use in in South Africa, where it is quite expensive to send TEXT, e.g. 10c per message.
The existing programmes (such as PalmOne) seem to all require an ISP or POP account. The one I have come across works entirely with GRPS.

I understand that blackberry is a voice, email message tool – but how does it interact with the cell phone? How much does it cost to use the service? Any information, experience appreciated.
I just purchased an unlocked i875 boost and want to put in my nextel sim. Do I need Nextel software on the boost phone to be able to use the text and email features? If I do, how can I get the nextel software?
I’m currently considering a phone upgrade to something with a large internal memory, an MP3 player and 3G for picking up email and possibly my google webmail. GPS and a good internal camera wouldn’t go amiss either.
At first, I was pretty taken by the iPhone 3G, but couldn’t justify the cost, not to mention that I find Apple’s proprietary attitude and aggressive marketing increasingly distasteful. I am quite a fan of the iTunes software, mind you, and to continue using it does hold some appeal.
Now I’ve discovered I can renew my contract and get a Samsung Omnia off my provider for free, and they’re introducing the Nokia N96 soon, which I should be able to get at a very small cost.
The phone nerds don’t like the Windows skeleton below the pretty skin of the Omnia, and I know that Windows Mobile isn’t the best performer for audio. I know precious little about the N96, except that it would probably do all the things I want.
Any suggestions?
Cycle Touring … backup’s (battery, phone) – (and having a camera), (carrying a photo album)…SO THE idea is (save effort via) : CAMERA PHONE (2nd phone in carriage) – (photo’s taken with mobile phone camera and saved as EMAIL when in townships (access onto Telephone Service Provider) in that area. NOTE : Memory capacity on the mobile for holding the photo’s till SAFTEY save via EMAIL, and quality of camera of the MOBILE phone, support for email of PHOTO from the phone (ie. as in when in the email area of the phone as in use – to send the selected photo based in the phones memory, already stored!),prefer clam shell PROTECT of lens (ie. open and point). RELIABLE…(MOTOROLA preferred) LG is ok…is NOKIA better … (-: (NO TERMS NO CONDITIONS ACCEPTED ON ADVICE – only THANK YOU!) – paperless concept – PAPER CLIP 1 to ROLODEX )huh !)
