Open the file with powerpoint and (click save as) save it as a pps (power point slide show) file.

Click File->save as… and save it as powerpoint show, your friend will open it as a slideshow.
This works only if your friend has intalled powerpoint on his computer.

You can make the powerpoint e-card as video format:
    a. capture the screen with camstudio
    b. convert it with moyea ppt to video converter

Well, if there is PowerPoint or PowerPoint viewer installed on other computers, just save your presentation to .PPS or .PPSX.

BTW, it’s a good idea to transfer your presentation to Flash and then send the Flash to your friends. This will help you embed all the music, video and Falsh in the Christmas Card. Here is a tutorial for you which is about how to Create personalized Christmas Flash eCard by yourself from PowerPoint in minutes without tech skills.
